Youth Of Today! Future Of Tomorrow!!!

By: Fanny Tamegnon - Miss Africa Canada 2004

www.missafricanada.com

In Germany, I’ve asked Him in my heart to so many. I did not know he had given me the answer. I was giving the answer when I was being asked how did you find you trip? But I did not realize that it was the answer. ACTIONS! Keep Doing It! I actually wrote an article about it that was posted on the diocese of Calgary’s website. Then everything radically changed in the youth group underneath his guidance. We have been acted together. I have learned a lot through my brothers and sisters. I have grown closer to Him, and it is impressive to see that they have learned a lot through the activities He has been blessing us to do. I recall one who did not know how to pray, who can now pray and who understand the importance of prayer and how it affects his life. I recall another one who had low self esteem, who now sees more that he is a prince, which built up his self- esteem. I recall one who could dance for the Lord in worship, and who now has more fire than every one. I recall me becoming closer everyday to the Lord and saying more yes to him, and inviting more youth to join us. Not only has Jesus blessed us, but all this has been happening because we have come to emphasize more Fridays meeting to Spiritual Growth: testimonies, youth talks, discussions on spiritual videos, the word of God, discovering more what our faith is about. We meet every 2 weeks, and every other Saturday are the activities; helping the poor at the mustard seed, the drop- in center, basketball tournament, soccer game, youth rallys, movies, plays at Church, medleys for Christmas Concert, Talent Show, making worship sticks, making rosaries, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and much more with beads. Those activities are also to encourage and allow one to discover what the Lord has blessed each person with and also to get out of your comfort zone.

If you ever come in Calgary, come visit TeenZ N’ Action at St Mark Parish. Until then ask the Lord, am I doing what you want me to do? Am I giving you a place in life? Can you really transform my life for better? Would you really be by my side when everyone has left me? Can I really let go of my addictions to have you be the only one I am addicted too in my life? Thank you for allowing me to share one of my testimonies and passion with you. Remember this We are the Youth of Today, and the future of Tomorrow! Let us have a strong foundation. Let Us have HIM, our Lord Jesus Christ who died out of Love for you and I, as our foundation. Let You and I learn to do what is Right out of Love for Him, because He has done What Is Right Out Of Love for You and I! People won’t like you when you do the right thing, but remember Him and He will be your refuge in the storm! I could still be here with you until tomorrow, but….

Thank You for ready me!

Have a Blessed Journey in Christ, Blessed Angels!!!

Fanny (miss 2004) has a strong desire to work with youth

With a strong desire to work with the Youth and help make our generation better, I think God heard my prayer and blessed me with that. I`ve become the Coordinator of `TeenZ `N Action``, a youth group in Calgary. It was a learning curve for me as well as the Youth. Some key highlights about what we’ve done last year: With the Youth we’ve fundraised and some of us over 18 were able to go to the World Youth Day in Germany in August. I’ve approached many local restaurants that made some donations. The importance of having a Youth Group and wanting the Youth to join was for me to help them grow spiritually as well as they get to share their experience and walk proud on the Streets to be who they are. So, I have 10 who are committed and are regularly there. When I have the opportunity to talk to some of them, whether at the Train Station, the bus Station: I try to do it. Because I often find that nowadays too many of the youth are walking in life with no purpose. Especially many immigrants youth try so badly too fit in that they would literally reject their own identity. So when we have events (more of them come) That warms up my heart because I’ll rather have them at basketball tournaments, talent shows that we do than them being on the streets smoking and things like that. We even had once a freestyle night which revealed to some of them things they could do. They also get to go and see what happen in other youth group. Few months ago, we came with an official name: `TeenZ `N Action``. The talent Show that we organized in February was called ``Worship Him N Action``. This was to help them acknowledge the gifts they have first and also allow them to share it with other youth. For mothers Day, They brought the idea of selling cards and God blessed us to find a cheap site on the internet we ordered it from: A lot friends participated and we sold it for (1 for $3.00 and 2 for $5.00). We raised $150.00. We’ve also gone to help the Poor in the Community to feed them at the Calgary Drop In Center so they get to see, live and experience some harsh realities of the society. Some of them even cried that day. We’ve started what is called `youth Talks` where one pick a topic and shared it with other and relate it to them in their personal life and experience.
